Summertime and the living’s easy on the Lax All Stars network. What better time to dive into another edition of the ever popular Best of the Spoon Feed.
For the post-college laxer summer is the time for BBQ’s, summer league, summer tourneys, swimming pools and sunburns, but there are hidden dangers around every turn. When you reach a certain age and those fresh memories of college life start to fade away, the new car smell starts to fade from your body. Body parts you didn’t know existed start to hurt and you spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about the affects of eye strain and stiff lower backs. Life becomes much more complicated than deciding whether or not to shoot for the corner or off-stick hip.
But the most obvious signal that I’m not 20 and guzzling bag-o-wine in my parent’s basement is the crippling hangover that strikes after any night out on the town. It used to be that I’d bounce back like Popeye, but not anymore.
Case in point: Last night I was able to trick myself into enjoying a soda or two like it was 2003 all over again. Thirsty Thursday just like the old days. The old days which included clever arguments like “Monday is the new Sunday” and “Tuesday is dollar beer night”, “Wednesday is halftime” and “Thursday is the ‘real’ start of the weekend bro.” Indeed.
Fast forward to 2010. Take one part hot tub, 5ish parts Gin and Tonic, and some delicious burgers supplied by Mitchy B. aka “W1LDF1RE” and you have a recipe for a Friday morning filled with blinding headaches and regret. They say that you’re only as old as you feel and that would make me one of the Golden Girls today.
Not the sassy one either, but the old(er) one.
Yeah that’s about right.
Thankfully I’ve got a fountain of youth to brighten my day over on the Spoon Feed.
Here’s what you missed this week.
#1 Alabama Crimson Tide Mockups
4. YouTube parody of “The Social Network” – For you nerds out there.
A YouTube-themed parody of the forthcoming “The Social Network” movie about Facebook. Written and co-directed by Jeff Loveness, a Jimmy Kimmel Live intern. To fully appreciate, watch the original. (via boingboing.net)
