Major League Lacrosse and Smartlink announced yesterday an interactive fan contest in partnership with the HEADstrong Foundation. The contest, entitled “Shot Towards Success,” will allow fans in attendance during Sunday’s title match at MLL Championship Weekend presented by Smartlink a chance to win monetary prizes for themselves and charitable donations for the HEADstrong Foundation.
At halftime of Sunday’s game, fans who have purchased “Smartlink balls,” available at booths throughout the stadium, will have the opportunity to shoot them onto the field from their seats in the stands. They will be aiming at corner targets of Smartlink banners that will be brought onto the field. Each ball will be marked with a number used to identify who threw the ball, so that winning fans can later claim their prizes. A portion of each prize will be donated to the HEADstrong Foundation.
Pat Colleluori, Jr., HEADstrong Director of Development, said that the Foundation was honored to have been chosen by Smartlink and the MLL as a partner of this interactive competition, and was grateful that MLL Championship Weekend will take place in Philadelphia. PPL Park, which will host the two-day MLL playoff, is only minutes from HEADstrong’s headquarters as well as Nick’s House, HEADstrong’s haven for families of cancer patients. Nick’s House, named after HEADstrong founder Nick Colleluori, provides full complimentary living accommodations for families with loved ones being treated in the area.
Being selected as a charitable benefactor was rather appropriate being that we are on the cusp of September, which is recognized as National Blood Cancer Awareness Month.
