Music Monday: The DNA of Music

Vinyl Records
Crate Digging

This week I decided to share a few songs that we’ve been listening in the office. Rather than throwing you guys some completely random tracks, I decided to pick a few with some prominent samples. I really enjoy samples because they can be a great way to discover new music, provide a sense of familiarity, shed some light on an artist’s influences, or simply give something new life. Samples can also cause headaches for artists as clearing them for albums is often a challenge. As you’ve probably noticed, some samples are more noticeable than others.

First up we have a pretty obvious and popular sample off Eminem’s new album.

Eminem – Rhyme or Reason

Features…

The Zombies – Time Of The Season

Next up, Danny Brown, the always entertaining/eccentric emcee.

Danny Brown – Grown Up

Features…

Gorillaz – Tomorrow Comes Today

and…

Party Supplies – A Perfect Life

Finally we have legendary producer and sample king, Dr. Dre.

Dr. Dre – Lil Ghetto Boy

Features…

Donny Hathaway – Little Ghetto Boy

and…

KC & the Sunshine Band – I Get Lifted

Thanks for checking out another installment of Music Monday.  As always, feel free to submit your favorite tunes in the LAS Community and let us know what you’ve been listening too.  You just might see it featured here on Music Monday!
