Reader Poll: Who Will Be The JuCo Champ?

It’s officially tournament time for everyone and we couldn’t be more excited. For the next four weeks, we are dedicating our Reader Poll to all the college lacrosse tournaments. Here’s how things will break down…

5.6 (TODAY!) – NJCAA – 4 Teams

5.13 – MCLA D1 – 8-16 Teams

5.20 – NCAA D3 – 8 Teams

5.27 – NCAA D1 – 2 Teams

We’ll showcase each tournament, highlight the upcoming round of games, and then have you cast your vote to see who will win it all!

As you can see above, today is all about the NJCAA! Connor’s last JuCo Report had the brackets down to the final six teams.

OCC won Region 3 East, and Genesee won Region 3 West. OCC beat Genesee 15-8, but both the East and West get AQ slots. ASA beat Suffolk and played Nassau for the Region 15 bid. Nassau won that game and took the #3 slot. Essex won Region 20, Brookdale won Region 19, and Harford picked up the at-large bid for their second place finish in Region 20. As a reward, they get to play Essex again in the first round. Essex won the last game 9-8. Brookdale travels to Nassau, and OCC and Genesee get byes into the semifinal round.

Today we are down to four teams with Essex beating Harford 10-8 and Nassau taking a convincing victory over Brookdale 19-4 to go on to the semifinals.

On Saturday, top-seed Onondaga will play Essex and #2 Genesee will play Nassau to decide who goes on to the Championship game on Sunday.

5.11 – Semifinals

  • SF 1 – #1 Onondaga vs. #4 Essex
  • SF 2 – #2 Genesee vs. #3 Nassau

5.12 – Championship

  • Winner of SF 1 vs. Winner of SF 2

Alright lax nation, what do YOU think? Who will win the NJCAA title this year? Will Onondaga win their 7th title in just eight years, or will we see a new victor rise to the top?
