Tie Up Tuesday: Corbyn Tao

Editor’s Note: Welcome to our new weekly series, Tuesday Tie Up! Each week, we will have a different lacrosse pro or personality talking about how they string up their head, and each post is brought to you by Epoch Lacrosse. Some of the pros will be stringing the Hawk head, and others will be stringing up their head of choice with Epoch’s Otter Mesh. Either way, you get to see how the big guns string their heads. You’re sure to learn a thing or two, so pay attention! We’ll let Epoch take it from here…

Corbyn Tao of the Minnesota Swarm

A close friend of Epoch’s, Corbyn came in to show us how he ties up a high pocket. Corbyn being one the best dressed in a tie up video is a well-versed field and box player. He is originally from Coquitlam, British Columbia where he started playing box and would also become a Minto Cup winner with the Adanacs.

Corbyn would then go on to refine his field game at Western Reserve Academy in Ohio and would later attend Robert Morris University and play attack. Corbyn is currently a player in the NLL for the Minnesota Swarm.

We love the way Corbyn tied up The Hawk in this video.

He creates a very high pocket that has a lot of depth. His pattern is unique and also uses more diamonds then we have seen before. This creates a nice pocket and lets the ball sit very high.

With the combination of Corbyn’s pattern and The Hawk’s Laid Back Design, you get a great pocket with a lot of hold and a smooth release.

One of our favorite things about this pattern is the way he offsets the knots of each shooter.

As you can see the knots are tied to every other side. It adds a nice touch of symmetry compared to the pockets you see with all of the shooters knots and additional strings on one side.

Be sure to check out Corbyn and the rest of the Minnesota Swarm this upcoming season.
