According to Bayhawks head coach Dave Cottle, 94 feet is the distance a halogen lamp projects its light; a number so arbitrary you’d have to assume it to be correct. “If you’re driving from Florida to Maryland,” said Cottle during a mid-season conference call, “you’re not looking at Florida or Maryland, you’re looking 94 feet […]
Major League Lacrosse’s 2013 Championship Weekend looks like it was the last of its kind. Moving forward, higher seeded MLL teams will host playoff games, with a single championship game being played at a predetermined location. We probably won’t see semifinals and finals all wrapped up into one big weekend, so this is the LAST […]
Boston Cannons defenseman and Loyola graduate, P.T. Ricci, stops by to share his story, and how he got on the road to Major League Lacrosse.
So, Philadelphia: Are you guys just not really interested in watching lacrosse? Goodness, an announced attendance of just 3,792 for the MLL championship. Like Connor said, we’ll get into that later; this is about being there, and what you may have missed from your couch.
Major League Lacrosse has announced a new playoff format, and some key dates for next season. For the MLL, it means home playoff games for the top seeds, an extended playoff schedule, and a stand alone championship game. Below, I get into the details of the new moves, and then look at how this could […]
Since it was just MLL Championship Weekend, and my favorite team, the Chesapeake Bayhawks, were crowned champs for the second consecutive season and fifth overall (some would call that a dynasty), I’m allowing two tweets for this week’s Tweet of the Week. And what do they teach us? No one passes like the Hawks, and […]
The Chesapeake Bayhawks just won their second consectutive Major League Lacrosse championship, and their league-best fifth overall title. If they don’t deserve photo of the week honors, I don’t know who does. In fact, they get a double dose, first with this gem from Cascade’s Instagram and then this awesome t-shirt design the Hawks created.
The semifinal highlight videos were excellent. No surprise there! Now we’re on to the Finals, Eric Law’s 9 goal semifinal performance and much, much more. If you didn’t check out the game in person (unfortunately, less than 4,000 people did so), or catch the game on TV the first time around, YouTube has you covered. […]
Major League Lacrosse’s Championship Weekend presented by Smartlink has already provided some huge story lines, and great games, and we’ve still got the Finals to go! If you’re not in Philly yourself, check out the game on ESPN2 at 3pm.
2011 saw the Boston Cannons win their first Major League Lacrosse title, and although it took the team from Beantown a while to grab their first Steinfeld Cup (they’re an original franchise!), when they did, it was special! It took a great game from Jordan Burke in goal, and a heck of a day shooting […]
Major League Lacrosse and Smartlink announced today an interactive fan contest in partnership with the HEADstrong Foundation. The contest, entitled “Shot Towards Success,” will allow fans in attendance during Sunday’s title match at MLL Championship Weekend presented by Smartlink a chance to win monetary prizes for both themselves and for HEADstrong.
John Grant Junior, Joe Walters, Brett Queener, and the rest of the 2008 Rochester Rattlers put on an absolute show to win Major League Lacrosse’s title over the Denver Outlaws, 16-6 in Boston. When Casey Powell is barely even in the highlights, you know the action is legit.
Four disappointed teams will be stuck at home on Championship Weekend. What went wrong, and can they turn things around next season?
Each MLL Championship Game, and Championship Weekend presented by Smartlink, is different. Some result in physical brawls where teams trade goals and hits. That’s intense! Other finals have showcased some of the best lacrosse plays we’ve ever seen, and still others feature shooting the likes of which we rarely see. Major League Lacrosse’s 2006 title […]
If Chesapeake wants a shot at the title, Kip Turner will have to be on point his weekend, even when shots go wide. WARNING: There be GIFs ahead!
