2016 Mardi Gras Lacrosse – Come On Down!

The 2016 Mardi Gras Lacrosse Tournament will be hosted in New Orleans’ beautiful City Park from January 29th through January 31st, 2016. Games start up on Friday afternoon, and end around midday on Sunday. The MGLT is set up this way so that people can get down to the Big Easy on Friday for a full weekend of New Orleans lacrosse, but also get home at a reasonable hour on Sunday, even if they are flying out.

2016 Mardi Gras Lacrosse Tourney

The 2016 Mardi Gras Lacrosse Tourney will feature three divisions of play. There will be a Women’s Open, a Men’s Open, and a Men’s Masters. The masters division is 35+, making it a TRUE game of oldmanlax. Thankfully, I qualify by about 8 months. Perfect for me!

Team registrations are starting to roll in, so if you want to put a team together for this wonderful weekend, get on it now! The Registration Page is still open, so make it happen, and I’ll see you there.

LaxAllStars.com has been down to cover the Mardi Gras Lacrosse Tourney in the past, and it’s always been a very enjoyable experience. There is always a good mixture of teams, and you get college club teams playing alongside men’s post-collegiate teams, and those match ups are always fun, and different. The scene at the fields is one of a constant party, and there is always plenty of food and beverage available.

Teams from Florida, Texas, and even the Mid-Atlantic area come every year. There is often a squad or two from New York City, and sometimes you’ll even get an international team. I have twice seen a team from Brampton, Ontario play in this event. And there are plenty of Canadian transplants on the home team, the New Orleans Lacrosse Club. Since you’re in New Orleans, a place unto itself, it almost feels like an international tournament! This is a different event, and one well worth experiencing.

As an added bonus, here is the FULL video from the 2014 MGLT title game:

Oh, and in 2013 someone wore a hot dog costume because… New Orleans.
