What a week it was in the National Lacrosse League. Most of the games went down to the wire, and there were heroic performances across the board. We’re bringing you some of the best Twitter reactions from this weekend’s action, as well as some not-so-great moments. Let’s dive in!
Twitter Reactions: Georgia Swarm v. Philadelphia Wings
The topic of music being played during NLL games has been a sore one for fans across the league. While some complain about it more than others, there are definitely those who still think it enhances the fan experience. However, not this fan:
@NLLwings dj is horrendous
— Nik C. Watson (@talk_flyers) January 13, 2019
‘Nuff said.
This goal for the Swarm was challenged by Philadelphia, but was determined to be a goal for Georgia:
That was pretty, @GeorgiaSwarmLAX ?

Philadelphia would actually come out on the bad end of a few reviews during the game, including this no-goal by Matt Rambo:
Philly legend and recurring guest on @thecreasedive Chef Rambo (@rattmambo) goes airborne #ForTheBrand
It ended up getting called no goal after a challenge but we won’t the facts stand in the way of a nasty highlight. pic.twitter.com/0VAS3avfWB
— Jordie ? (@BarstoolJordie) January 13, 2019
Fans weren’t too happy about the lack of calls going the Wings’ way either:
@NLL your officiating for the @NLLwings game is GARBAGE
— Conor Thorson (@cwthorson) January 13, 2019
@GeorgiaSwarmLAX do you have @NLL ref 8 on your payroll tonight
— ThrottleDownSpeedCo (@ThrottleDown_SC) January 13, 2019
However, the officials couldn’t deny Rambo this highlight-reel goal:
@rattmambo‘s hang time on point ?

Philadelphia would get close in the fourth quarter:

— Philadelphia Wings (@NLLwings) January 13, 2019
But Georgia would ultimately seal the victory:
@GeorgiaSwarmLAX still undefeated baby!!! Lehhgoooooo!!!
— Raven_FAL (@Mark_Torre_) January 13, 2019
.@NLLwings will get their first win soon. Playing hard, on the right track. Good win for @GeorgiaSwarmLAX . 13-11 final. #NLL
— Dave Walls (@davewalls) January 13, 2019
The game was held in conjunction with the US Lacrosse Convention. Unfortunately, there was a terrible incident involving the Wings’ PA announcer and some Philadelphia fans at the game involving Lyle Thompson:
@NLL and @NLLwings super crappy comment by the PA announcer about Lyle Thompson of @GeorgiaSwarmLAX: “let’s shut down the ponytail”?! Really?! Have some respect for the Haudenosaunee and the indigenous peoples whose game this is. #haudenosaunee #respectthegame #lacrosse
— Adam DJ Brett (@adjbx) January 13, 2019
Disappointed to hear @NLLwings announcer disrespect the Haudenosaunee & say a/b Lyle Thompson “let’s snip off the ponytail”. Really? Respect the Haudenosaunee and indigenous peoples whose game you play. #respectthegame #haudenosaunee @GeorgiaSwarmLAX @NLL
— Indigenous Values (@indigenousVI) January 13, 2019
Lyle Thompson spoke out about the incident:
2019 and the @NLLwings arena announcer saying “let’s snip the pony tail” to the whole arena and fans saying they’re going to scalp me…. damn Daniel.
— LYLE THOMPSON (@lyle4thompson) January 13, 2019
I want to make it clear, behavior like this is never OK. However, I know there are still great people that are a part of the Wings’ organization. Hopefully, we all can learn from this mishap and move forward as a better lacrosse community because of it.
Twitter Reactions: New England Black Wolves v. Calgary Roughnecks
In what was probably the only game that didn’t come down to the wire on the night, the Black Wolves ran away with the victory against an impressive Roughnecks squad. New England showed that they are a force to be reckoned with and that their win against the Rush earlier in the season was not a fluke.
David Brock helped the Black Wolves jump out to an early lead with this pretty goal:
David Brock keeps it rollin’. 2-0 Black Wolves early! pic.twitter.com/TSANzl8rhY

New England would explode from there, taking a 6-1 lead before the first quarter was even over:

Maybe their win against the Rush wasn’t a fluke?@NLL @DevanKaneyTV @PxP4Sports— Adrian Pomilio (@adrianpomilio) January 13, 2019
There was an impressive flow sighting as well during the game:

The Roughnecks would come back within four, off of this great goal by Dane Dobbie. It seems like he’s done this a few times before…:

The Black Wolves would pull away at the end, however to seal the 16-9 win.

Twitter Reactions: San Diego Seals v. Rochester Knighthawks
The San Diego Seals had their home opener in the franchise’s first-ever game in San Diego. The atmosphere was electric, and fans seemed to love the game from start to finish.
NLL commissioner Nick Sakiewicz was in attendance at the Seals’ home opener, in what was an exciting game:
