The national stage is set for the annual Adrenaline All American Games, with the long-established boys game succeeding the girls game in their second year. The 2019 Adrln AA boys rosters may be the deepest lineup of talent and diversity we have seen since the inaugural game in 2011. With lacrosse players from 13 states, the reach is wide and brings together an accomplished and intriguing collection of players from perennial powerhouse high school programs, to those hidden gems in less developed regions of play. The girls game is on the same trajectory, featuring players from an upgraded 6 states and Canada with a wider berth of talent across state lines. The girls and boys games will take place this Sunday, June 16th, at 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM, respectively, at the Ford Center at The Star (also known as the Dallas Cowboys practice facility). Pregame coverage will begin a half hour before each faceoff.
After years of western players being ignored from national recognition, Adrenaline Lacrosse created the All American game as a platform to not only highlight the top western players, but to offer thanks for what they have done to grow the game. Played in front of family and fans, the Adrenaline All American games will also be nationally broadcasted live on The Lacrosse Network (TLN) owned by Whistle Sports & Lacrosse All Stars. Last year’s games saw over 1 Million views, and we’ve lined up a great production team to ensure this year is no different. Patrick McEwen, a data analyst at Inside Lacrosse, will be manning the play-by-by for both games. Patrick, more widely known for his social media handle, @LaxFilmRoom, covers games all over the Midwest and appears as a commentator for college and HS games. Accompanying Patrick for the boys Adrenaline All-American game will be Jono Zissi, Adrln Recruiting Director and West Coast Starz Director. Zissi has paved the way for western lacrosse players to gain collegiate exposure, and he truly might know every male player west of the Mississippi. By the same token, Tariro Kandemiri, more widely known as @officiallaxgirl, has a passion for the game that is second to none. She will be adding color to the girls live stream alongside Patrick. Paul Carcaterra, ESPN, will also be joining us on the sidelines and in the booth for some valuable knowledge and entertainment. Be sure to tune in to all social media outlets including TLN, LAS, IL and Adrenaline for behinds the scenes looks and updates! These athletes are all heroes to hordes of younger players and we are proud to make sure they get all the national credit and respect they worked so hard to earn.
Players will arrive in Texas on Saturday and be treated to an exclusive banquet featuring renowned Keynote Speaker, Rorke Denver. New to the itinerary is the induction of the first-ever Western Hall Of Fame class, in which we will honor Rorke and fellow western lacrosse prodigy, Peter Baum (Colgate, 2012 Tewaarton Winner, MLL Pro). Check out their stories here. The induction will be live streamed on the Adrenaline Instagram at 6:30 PM CT and air on the Adrenaline YouTube Channel at 10:00 PM CT.
Players will check in Sunday morning and kick off the day with a media session where we get to know the players and learn more about their lacrosse journey. Players will head to the NFL-grade lockerrooms to receive their head-to-toe Adrenaline gear and suit up for the big show. The boys will receive top-rate alpha shafts to compliment their get up. Stay tuned for gear releases over the weekend!
Leading the North and South teams are veteran coaches as well as current collegiate standouts and AA alum. All of the following people have been instrumental in growing the western game, whether it be fostering a love for the sport and providing players the opportunity to learn and reach the next level, or inspiring other by achieving their dreams of playing in college and proving it is possible. NORTH (Boys): Jay Sothoron (ESD Coach), Jason Gildea (SMU Coach), Rorke Denver (Western HOF), Anthony DeMaio (Maryland, AA Alum) and Paul Carcaterra. SOUTH (Boys): Andy Kay (MICDS Coach), Peter Baum (Western HOF), Justin Anderson (UNC, AA Alum). NORTH (Girls): Morgan Widner (Syracuse), Courtney Anderson (Stanford, AA Alum) SOUTH (Girls): Charlotte North (Duke), Megan Carney (Syracuse, AA Alum)
We can’t wait to watch these players compete with and against the best in the west, some of which will end up teammates in a few short months. Check out a few key players that have had standout HS careers:
For the North, headliners Jake Taylor (Regis Jesuit/Notre Dame), Graham Blake (Marin/Harvard) & Alex Slusher (OES/ Princeton)will be a dominant trio up front. Top-ranked player, Graham Bundy (MICDS/ Georgetown), will lead the charge in the midfield along with Sam Parkinson (St. Ignatius/ Villanova) & Quinn Marquez ( SRV / Denver). Defensively, Quentin Matsui (Eden Prairie/ UVA) will headline a group that includes LSM Cole Finley Ponds (Denver East/ Hopkins) and Goalie Zach Groff (Fort Collins / Rutgers).
For the South, the talent is equally impressive. The cohesion may be a little more fluid, with many of the boys coming from the SoCal area where they have played with and against one another year in and year out. JJ Sillstrop (LCC/ Denver), Kevin Groeninger ( St. Margarets/ Bryant) andAlex Pistorious (Torrey Pines/ Colgate) will take matters into their own hands offensively. Between the lines will feature Logan Soelberg (Crespi / Yale), Lance Tillman (Valor/ UNC) and FO Mitchie Myers (St. John Bosco / Dartmouth). The defense will be anchored by Scott Bower (ESD/ UVA), Colin O’connor (LCC/ Towson), Marco Napolitano (Torrey Pines/ Notre Dame) and Oscar Hertz (Bishops/ Brown) alongside Joe Walsh (Coronado/ Colgate) in net.
For the North, Alexa Steffens (Eastside Catholic/Louisville) will put WA lacrosse on the map with help from the extensive midfield line, highlighted by Taylor Degroff (Castilleja/Princeton), Alma Nye (Oregon Episcopal/Oregon), Sloane Murphy (Colorado Academy/USC), and Bailey Cheetham (Deerfield/Johns Hopkins). Emma White (Cherry Creek/Oregon) will command the back ahead of OR netminder, Riley Drullinger (West Linn, Cal).
For the South, the roster highlights a large amount of SoCal and Texas talent. Leading the front line is Juliette Brown (ESD, Stanford),accompanied by Camdyn O’Donnell (Poway/SDSU). Chloe Hunter (Kinkaid/UPenn) and Maddie Barkate (St. Margaret’s/Harvard)will lead the midfield chain alongside JoJo Gum (Hockaday/Yale) and Shaye Henderson (Park City/Vanderbilt). Fellow Utah native Courtney Kaufmann (Park City/Tufts) will stand tall in goal and orchestrate the defense end.
With talent all over the field and every single player having something to prove, we are in for another exciting display of what the western game has to offer. Ultimately, the teams with the best cohesion will come out the victors when the dust settles.
