MLL Announces Registration Portal for 2020 Collegiate Draft Presented by Cascade

BOSTON – Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced last week that they will hold the 2020 Collegiate Draft Presented by Cascade on May 4. Today MLL announced the establishment of the Collegiate Draft Registration Portal, so that 2020 NCAA seniors may have the opportunity to register their interest in being selected in the Collegiate Draft.

“Due to the ambiguity of status for players in the 2020 NCAA senior class, MLL has established a registration portal,” said Alexander Brown, Major League Lacrosse Commissioner. “The portal will allow players to register their intent to move on from NCAA play and inform MLL coaches which 2020 NCAA seniors are committed and available for the 2020 MLL season.”

MLL’s Collegiate Draft Registration Portal will provide an opportunity for players from all divisions of the NCAA to declare their intended interest to play in Major League Lacrosse. Coaches from all six MLL teams will have access to the portal and will be made aware of every registrant.

Selections in the 2020 Collegiate Draft Presented by Cascade will not be limited to those registered. MLL coaches may select from any player listed in the 2020 NCAA senior class. As announced by MLL previously, if a player should be drafted, and they choose to return to NCAA play, the team who drafted that player will retain their rights for one (1) year. For any 2020 NCAA senior who was not drafted, and does not intend to return to NCAA play, they may voluntarily register for the MLL Player Pool.

“Seniors registered in the Collegiate Draft Registration Portal will get the first look by coaches,” said Sean Quirk, Head Coach for the Boston Cannons. “Players who are serious about their interest and commitment to play in MLL this season can signal that to us, through registering.”

2020 NCAA seniors interested in entering the Collegiate Draft Registration Portal can do so HERE.

Coverage of the Collegiate Draft Presented by Cascade will be held during MLL Draft Primetime, starting at 8:00 pm EDT (6:00 pm MDT). The draft will be conducted remotely, via a teleconference. Results will be released on a rolling basis via the league’s and teams’ social media platforms

Looking Forward: MLL Week 4 Preview

Ah, week four - the Mecca of MLL overreaction. We're weeks away from actually sealing anyone's fate, but (and I'm pretty sure I said the same thing last year) man oh man, 1-3 looks so much worse than 2-2, and this season, five teams find themselves teetering on that very precipice, staring into an abyss of no return. Okay, that may be a bit overdramatic, but this part can not be overstated: if you're 1-2, right your ship ASAP, or you just might get left behind.
