On the strength of a shutout victory over SLC rival San Diego State, Chapman stole seven first place votes from Utah and moved into second place in the Under Armour Week 5 MCLA Division I Coaches Poll.
Emboldened by 10 first place votes and 626 total points, the Panthers (8-0) leapfrogged defending national champion Grand Canyon (6-0), which had 609 points and four first-place votes.
Both Chapman and the Lopes remained behind top-ranked Utah (630 points, 12 1st votes).
The shift is a dramatic departure from last week when Utah snagged 20 first-place votes and was 25 points clear of second place Grand Canyon.
Michigan State (8-0) and Colorado (6-1) round out the Top 5.
Colorado State (3-4) departs the poll this week to make way for No. 16 New Hampshire (3-1).
