Derek Keenan, Jamie Dawick: Lacrosse Classified

We are kicking off Season 2 of Lacrosse Classified and as we continue through our Stampede Tack team previews, we move on to the two teams that perhaps had the fewest offseason moves in the Saskatchewan Rush and the Toronto Rock as we talk with Derek Keenan and Jamie Dawick.

Derek Keenan, Jamie Dawick: Lacrosse Classified

First up, we speak to the man we consider to be the greatest head coach and general manager of all time in Derek Keenan. Keenan has led the Rush to three championships and five NLL finals and has built his winner by being a master through the draft and acquiring a multitude of draft picks.  We speak to him about getting the likes of Jeff Cornwall and Ryan Dilks back into the lineup, a status update on Brett Mydske and why the Rush keep their training camp roster numbers extremely low.

Secondly, we head to Toronto to speak with general manager and owner of the Toronto Rock, Jamie Dawick.  Its only fitting that we speak to Jamie almost 1 year exactly since his last appearance on the podcast when he was the first owner to speak out during the labour stoppage, a conversation which in part kickstarted discussions that ultimately led to a resolution.  We speak to Jamie about the consistency in his lineup this year, a few draft picks that could be huge additions to his lineup, Jamie’s poker tournament skills and the legacy that the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre has left for the game of lacrosse.

We also have the audio of Jake singing Rhinestone Cowboy, news and notes, and a listener asks us, what will it take from the players, teams and the league to get a television deal done.

As always a big thank you to our sponsors, the Vancouver Warriors, Pure Vita Labs, Associated Labels and Packaging and Stampede Tack.
