GameChanger Chat: Richie Meade

In the lacrosse coaching world I don’t think there’s a coach more respected than Coach Richie Meade. He’s a Long Island native, and has been all over the map, including building one of the nation’s best lacrosse program at Navy. He also coached Team USA this past Summer, and was named the Head Coach at the University of Baltimore for only four years after he finished his undergraduate degree at North Carolina.

Editor’s Note: Joe Yevoli was an All-American lacrosse player at Virginia and Syracuse and won a national title with the Cavs in 2003 when he was a 2nd Team All American. Joe is currently the Head of Lacrosse Marketing at GC, a NYC company that builds free scorekeeping and stat software for teams. He played professional lacrosse for the San Francisco Dragons, Denver Outlaws, and New York Lizards and was a 2006 MLL Rookie of the Year Runner-up.  FollowJoe and follow GameChanger Lacrosse on Twitter and sign up for early access to the GameChanger Lacrosse App!

Coach Meade has a direct personality which demands respect and this comes across in the interview.  Some of his answers are simple and straightforward, and it’s obvious that’s exactly how he wants everything to be.

His philosophy can be described in one quick phrase, “Just get it done.”

He’s now at the early stages of building a brand new program at Furman University.  In the interview he talks about his new goals at a new school, what it was like coaching team USA, and how he became such a versatile coach.
