High School Men’s Lacrosse Phenom Joey Spallina Signs with Gait

Altamont, N.Y. (January 12, 2022) – Gait Lacrosse is excited to announce a 4-year partnership with men’s lacrosse star Joey Spallina making him the first high school lacrosse athlete signed to a hard goods brand. Spallina is the number one ranked Inside Lacrosse and NLF 2022 class high school men’s lacrosse recruit and is signed to play at Syracuse University.

The agreement will provide Spallina with Gait Lacrosse hard goods for the remainder of his high school career at Mount Sinai High School in Mt. Sinai, New York through his junior season at Syracuse, where he made waves signing his letter of intent in the fall of 2020. The deal also incorporates a product collaboration with Gait and Spallina on his own branded goods.

Spallina is a two-time US Lacrosse All-American and the first freshman in the history of Long Island Lacrosse to be named as such. He is also a three-time All County and All Division Player.

“The biggest thing for me was to find a product and a company that was about growth and vision and Gait Lacrosse is that. Being very familiar with their history, fast-forwarding to the impact that they have made in the women’s game, I am beyond thrilled to be at the jumping-off point of what is to come on the men’s field while under Coach Gait’s leadership at Syracuse. I’m excited to represent Gait Lacrosse on and off the field.”

– Joey Spallina

Gait Lacrosse, a collaboration between lacrosse legends and brothers, Gary and Paul Gait, launched in the fall of 2019 with only women’s lacrosse gear and a small assortment of men’s equipment. The brand is set to release a full men’s line in early 2022.

“Joey joining our brand while we begin the growth of our men’s product is a nice addition to the Gait team. His career is at the beginning of his future in lacrosse, just as ours is in the development of our men’s line. We are thrilled to have him.”

The accolades extend into Spallina’s club level performances. His reign at the top of the Inside Lacrosse and NLF class of 2022 rankings, was expanded to a top 60 beginning September 2020. He is a two-time Nassau Suffolk game MVP, a Gold Medalist at the New York State Empire Games, four-time Under Armour All-American, and named three-times Under Armour All-Tournament Team.

An astounding high school career, with still one year left to compete at Mt. Sinai, Spallina is a two-time Suffolk County Attackman of the Year, two-time Newsday first-team All Long Island, and was the first freshman to be named All Long Island, named Newsday player of the year, Long Island Championship MVP, and is a Suffolk County and Long Island Champion.

Spallina joins a list of elite women’s and men’s lacrosse athletes as well as fifteen college lacrosse programs in the Gait Family.
