Holden Cattoni, Dan Lomas: Lacrosse Classified, Ep. 63

This week on the Lacrosse Classified podcast, we dig deep into an eight-game NLL Week 8 that was full of surprises, and where our #WhoYaGott winner from 100 entries had just a 6-2 record. Holden Cattoni and Dan Lomas join us on the show.

Holden Cattoni, Dan Lomas: Lacrosse Classified Podcast, Ep. 63

From a massive upset in Long Island, as the New York Riptide took down the Georgia Swarm, to the Rochester Knighthawks having a very different pair of results, to the Colorado Mammoth only scoring five times against the Vancouver Warriors and then lighting up the Saskatchewan Rush the next night.  Because both expansion teams got their first win in franchise history, that’s where we are focusing our attention this week.

First up is Holden Cattoni of the Rochester Knighthawks.  Holden, a former Johns Hopkins star, was one of the first players to come out of Alberta’s Elev8 program into the NCAA.  Having played the 2018 season with the Calgary Roughnecks, Holden was then traded to Georgia in 2019 only to be surprisingly left unprotected in the expansion draft and was picked up with the 3rd overall pick by Rochester.  We talk about the expansion draft and life with the Knighthawks, the growth of the team’s offense and life outside of lacrosse living in the Washington D.C. area.

Next up is Dan Lomas of the New York Riptide.  Much like Cattoni, Dan is now with his third team in three years, after being let go by the former Rochester Knighthawks and Vancouver Warriors, he has persevered and found a new home with the Riptide.  We talk about life with the Riptide, the leadership of Dan MacRae and Dan’s growth as a lacrosse player from High Point to the NLL.

We then put gambling in lacrosse in our G. Wilson Construction Under Review segment and play another round of Stampede Tack‘s #WhoYaGott where Evan maintains a one-game lead over Jake as both went 4-4 last week. Of the five games this week, neither one is confident in four of the picks.  As well in News and Notes, the excitement both Evan and Jake have for the Riptide’s signing of Myles Jones.

As always a big thank you to our sponsors, Associated Labels and Packaging, Stampede Tack, G. Wilson Construction, Pure Vita Labs and the Vancouver Warriors.
