Indiana Tech vs Cumberlands: NAIA Weekend Preview

Indiana Tech looks to continue the NAIA upset train after No.2 Keiser did the unthinkable by upsetting No.1 Reinhardt earlier this week. It is an eventful weekend of NAIA lacrosse and here are the best games headed into the weekend.

#5 Indiana Tech vs #3 Cumberlands

Cumberlands and Indiana Tech are without a doubt two of the NAIA blue bloods. This game is going to give us a better understanding of which one of the two programs should be considered amongst the favorites to win a championship this season, and which one might be just a few pieces away.

Cumberlands comes into this game undefeated having passed every obstacle to date with ease. Their offense is on an absolute tear of late, amassing a 3 game streak of scoring over 14 goals.

IT enters this contest having played 4 of the top KCAC teams in the country, going 3-1 in those games. The firepower is certainly still there for the Warriors, they will need to find ways to get enough possessions to squeak out a road win in a hostile environment.

Madonna vs #1 Reinhardt

Madonna versus Reinhardt is special any time these teams matchup. These teams first collided in what many consider to be the best National Championship game in league history. Given their history, it’s no wonder that this game usually sees both teams fired up, and looking their best.  There is added intrigue in this game, as Reinhardt recently had their 38 game win streak snapped by Keiser last week. RU was able to respond strongly by following it up with a 24-7 dismantling of LTU. It will be interesting to see if Reinhardt is suddenly more vulnerable, or if having tasted defeat, Reinhardt is on a crusade to reassert dominance in this league.

#10 Columbia vs #3 Saint Ambrose

We are just getting into conference play for most of our conferences, and we already have the biggest game of the year for the KCAC. This is a rematch of last year’s KCAC Conference Championship, which saw Columbia cruise to an emphatic 16-6 victory. This year it appears the momentum leading into this one is completely on the side of Ambrose. Thus far, the Bee’s are undefeated and looking like the cream of the crop in the KCAC, while CC is off to an unexpected 1-3 start to the season.

Can CC pull off the upset and show they still run the KCAC, or will SAU take over the crown as top dog in conference? We will find out on Sunday!
