Jim Scherr, Blaze Riorden: Lacrosse Classified, Ep. 46

In a unique edition of Lacrosse Classified, Evan and Jake are taping at the same location for the first time ever as they are both at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in Langley, BC. Jim Scherr and Blaze Riorden join us on the show.

Jim Scherr, Blaze Riorden: Lacrosse Classified

In this episode we touch on everything related to the WILC, from no name bars on jerseys, to injuries plaguing the Iroquois Nationals, to amazing fan support from some smaller lacrosse nations to free webcasts.

Up first, he’s the former CEO of the US Olympic Committee and the current CEO of World Lacrosse, Jim Scherr. We discuss lacrosse in the Olympics, the growth of the sport worldwide, and whether it is time for World Lacrosse to expand the box game to a U-19 tournament and women’s tournament.

Then, we speak with USA Lacrosse team member, and also a member of the Philadelphia Wings and PLL Chaos Blaze Riorden. Blaze has a very interesting background. He tells his story about how he became one of the best field lacrosse goalies on the planet, while also excelling at being a forward in the NLL, which requires a totally different skill set. We also talk about the Wings season ahead, how the US has been performing so far at the world championships and what it’s like to play for Andy Towers.

It’s our final week of Stampede Tack‘s #WhoYaGott before the NLL season begins, along with other news and notes. As always a big thank you to our partners, Associated Labels and Packaging and Pure Vita Labs.
