Le Moyne vs Wingate: D2+D3 Weekend Preview

Another week and another slate of Division 2 lacrosse games and a very important week for Le Moyne. This week will have some great non-conference matchups that will have some implications on the polls. With March getting closer, you’re starting to see some of the northern teams now getting in the mix which will only give us more great games to watch.

The highlight of the weekend certainly being Le Moyne vs Wingate as both teams sit at No.1 and No.2 in the polls.

D2 Games to Watch This Weekend

Newberry vs. #4 UIndy (Saturday @ 1pm)

A game that many may look past, but will be one of the most entertaining games of the weekend. UIndy is a known commodity that owns an early season win over Lenoir Rhyne. Newberry is currently a team with a lot of buzz surrounding them. A game that can put them on the map and establish them as a legitimate contender in the SAC and in the South.

#11 Lindenwood vs. #18 Rockhurst (Saturday @ 6pm)

The game of games in recent years among Midwest DII lacrosse programs. Rockhurst is a team that is always very talented that can always beat ranked teams and has proven that. Lindenwood has been a known product for years now and has spoiled fans with their success. This will be a game for early season bragging rights.

#1 Le Moyne vs. #2 Wingate (Sunday @ Noon)

The game of the weekend. No.1 vs No.2 in a potential Memorial Day weekend matchup. Le Moyne looks to show the nation why they sit at No.1 and Wingate looks to take that title from them. Nothing more needs to be said. This will be a must see game played at the historic Homewood field.

#17 Lewis vs. #6 Mercyhurst (Monday @ 2pm)

Coming into the Mercyhurst game, Lewis is 2-0 with a huge win against Seton Hill. Mercyhurst is coming off of a loss against #2 Wingate and will be out to prove something. Lewis had a tremendous game plan against Seton Hill and they will look to slow down the Lakers from start to finish. A game that will feature one of the most traditional powers of Division 2lacrosse and one more recent Midwest upstarts. This mostly certainly will be a great game that will be entertaining to watch.

D3 Games to Watch This Weekend

A huge week of Division 3 lacrosse on deck. Some matchups that will let us know if certain teams are for real. As we inch closer to March, we will see more of the Mid-Atlantic and northern teams start to get into the swing of things which will show us some of the major players in the Division 3 landscape.

Some major upsets in week two that will hopefully continue into week three!

Rhodes vs. Whittier (Friday @ 7pm CST)

Welcome back to the party Coach Foxx and the Whittier Poets. After having the 2020 season cut short, the school decided not to play in 2021 so this will be the first chance to see the Poets in almost two years. A tough test against the Rhodes Lynx to start the season awaits them.

#18 Denison vs. Baldwin Wallace (Saturday @ Noon)

A huge test for Baldwin Wallace as they open the season. The Yellow Jackets are poised to compete for the OAC title with a first year head coach at the helm in familiar face, Tony Tatro. An extremely talented team that looks to challenge the Big Red who have a new coach in Eric Koch and a bad taste in their mouths after an early NCAA loss to Centre last season.

Ohio Wesleyan vs. Illinois Wesleyan (Saturday @ 1pm CsT)

OWU is going out to IWU for the first time and looking to start their season by sending a message to everyone. IWU used an upset win over OWU in 2017 to put them on the trajectory they are on now. This will be a track meet and it will be must see lacrosse. IWU won’t need motivation or confidence in this one as they are coming off a huge win against Colorado College.

#14 Stevenson vs. #20 Ursinus (Saturday @ 7pm)

Two teams that many people forget to talk about. Both have had a run of success many programs dream of and it will be a tough test for both schools. Stevenson has always had a gauntlet of a non-conference schedule and 2022 will be no different.
