Men’s College Lacrosse 2020: Week 1 Recap

The Dome, Klöckner, Michie and Homewood saw their respective men’s college lacrosse teams display their potential this past weekend. The season is here (read the about last week’s opening weekend for the men’s season here) and what a time it is to be a fan of the fastest sport on two feet. February madness is causing teams to slip up and learn important lessons early in the season. And, don’t worry, we’ve got the top moments from the women’s opening weekend coming to you tomorrow, so stay tuned.

Vermont vs. Jacksonville

Had the potential to be a really good one. You hate to see it. This gives those in the camp of arguing for a later start to the season a little more ammunition.

Colgate vs. Syracuse

Final Score:

Syracuse 21 Colgate 14

Chase Scanlan had quite the debut wearing the number 22, racking up seven goals in the orange win.

UMass vs. Army

Final Score:

Army 17 UMass 4

Army’s 800th program win was dominant from start to finish. Army’s Brendan Nichtern led the way with 4 goals and 3 assists. UMass was tabbed to repeat as CAA champs this year. That makes this a very powerful and convincing win.

Penn State vs. Villanova

Final Score:

Penn State 19 Villanova 10

This ball game was a close one until the 2nd quarter, where Penn State’s offense took off. O’Keefe & Ament have 32 points combined after two games. LETHAL.

Nailbiters

Maryland vs. Richmond

Final Score:

Maryland 14 Richmond 13

Richmond was up four goals heading into the fourth quarter, but Maryland stormed back and avoided the upset beating Richmond in double overtime.

Bellarmine vs. Marquette

Final Score:

Marquette 11 Bellarmine 10

Marquette held on to beat Bellarmine after a big Knights comeback.
