MLL 2020 Collegiate Draft Set for May 4th

MLL Announces the 2020 Collegiate Draft Presented by Cascade

BOSTON – (April 17, 2020) – Major League Lacrosse (MLL) will hold the 2020 Collegiate Draft Presented by Cascade on May 4.

“Holding the collegiate draft remotely reflects the league’s first priority, the health and safety of the MLL family,” said Alexander Brown, MLL Commissioner. “Despite the difficult times in which we find ourselves, we are looking towards brighter days ahead and the start of the 2020 season when we will welcome the twentieth class of Major League Lacrosse athletes.”

“Everybody here at Cascade Lacrosse is just so excited for the return of our sport and the day players can find their field,” said Patrick O’Toole, Director of Marketing, Cascade Maverik Lacrosse.

Entering into its 20th season, we’re proud to share the coming of new teams, venues and NCAA players with MLL this spring. It couldn’t come at a better time. We’ll definitely be tuning in.”

Coverage of the Collegiate Draft Presented by Cascade will be held during MLL Draft Primetime, starting at 8:00 pm EDT (6:00 pm MDT). The draft will be conducted remotely, via a teleconference. Results will be released on a rolling basis via the league’s and teams’ social media platforms.

The draft order will be:
1. New York Lizards
2. Connecticut Hammerheads
3. Philadelphia Barrage
4. Boston Cannons
5. Denver Outlaws
6. Chesapeake Bayhawks

MLL teams will be able to draft any player who was listed as a senior for the 2020 NCAA lacrosse season. The recent decision by the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) to extend the eligibility of 2020 spring athletes, will not affect the eligibility to be drafted in the 2020 Collegiate Draft Presented by Cascade. If a player should be drafted, and they choose to return to NCAA play, the team who drafted that player will retain their rights for one (1) year. For any 2020 NCAA senior who was not drafted, and does not intend to return to NCAA play, they may voluntarily register for the MLL Player Pool.
