This week’s NLL Power Rankings sees Buffalo as the unanimous No. 1 after downing No. 4 – and East Division rival – Toronto 8-6 on Saturday night at KeyBank Center. No. 2 Georgia also made some noise in our rankings by cutting Toronto down a notch on Friday, 14-5. No. 3 San Diego won a nail-biter against No. 6 Saskatchewan at Pechanga Arena, their fourth win in a row. No. 5 Calgary stifled Rochester’s offense and won handedly, 12-9, while Philadelphia surprised everyone and beat New England 13-8 on home turf. Rounding out this weekend’s games, No. 8 Colorado bested No. 9 Vancouver twice, 11-7 and 14-4, with Dillon Ward and Steve Fryer starting in net once each for the Mammoth.
As we get closer and closer to playoff time, Buffalo and Georgia are the first two squads to clinch a spot in the East, while San Diego is the only team to do the same out West. This coming weekend doesn’t see too many key matchups in terms of playoff implications, but Calgary does hosts the Seals on Saturday in what till be a battle of No. 1 and No. 2 in the West, and Vancouver is on the outside looking in and looking to claw their way back into the playoff discussion against Saskatchewan. Stay tuned to the NLL Power Rankings.
