RIT Takes on York: D2+D3 Weekend Preview

Some huge matchups littered across D2 and D3 this weekend as some conferences are getting started with conference play while other teams are on their Spring Break trips. Some out of region matchups really make this weekend interesting with a lot of great lacrosse to look forward to.

Coaches Poll: USILA

D3 Games to Watch This Weekend

#1 RIT vs. #5 York (Saturday at 12:00pm)

A Top Five matchup featuring RIT, the defending National Champions, and York, a team looking to shock the world in this game. Two of the best coaches in D3 will go head to head. Can RIT handle the role as the hunted? Saturday will be a huge test for both sides.

Southern Virginia vs. Baldwin Wallace (Saturday at 1:00pm)

Quietly one of the most intriguing matchups of the weekend. SVU has quietly been getting better every year under Jason Lamb. They are finally out of the shadow of Salisbury and the favorite to win the NCAA bid from the USA South. BW is coming off a huge win against a great Grove City program.

#15 Gettysburg vs. #13 Stevenson (Saturday at 1:00pm)

A huge Top 20 matchup for both programs. Gettysburg is coming off a loss against Salisbury and Stevenson has been the steady presence they have been for the last ten plus years. This will have a huge effect on the rankings come Monday.

#2 Salisbury vs. #6 Lynchburg (Saturday at 1:00pm)

The game of the weekend. Salisbury vs Lynchburg. Nothing more needs to be said. A potential playoff preview in early March highlights a stacked weekend of lacrosse.

#7 St. John Fisher vs. #11 Saint Lawrence (Saturday at 2:00pm)

A Top 20 upstate battle. St. John Fisher is a team littered with talent and a lot of buzz around what they’re doing. Saint Lawrence is a known commodity that is a perennial Top 20 team, but a team that doesn’t often get the respect they deserve because of their consistency. Watch out for this matchup!

D2 Games to Watch This Weekend

Newberry vs. #12 Queens (Saturday @ 1:00pm)

Both teams come into the season with a lot of hype. Saturday we get to see which team is for real. Both like to play fast and push the tempo so this will be a fun game to watch. Can the Queens defense stop the Newberry offense and their influx of transfers? We’ll find out.

#1 Le Moyne vs. #5 Mercy (Saturday @ 2:00pm)

The Dolphins are coming into this matchup battle tested and ready to take on another Top 10 team in Mercy. This game will showcase one of the best FO men in the country in Mercy’s PJ Argiros, who is quietly putting together a dominant start to the season. If they can control possessions they have a chance, but Le Moyne is stacked all over the field. A great D2 battle.

Tusculum vs. Mars Hill (Saturday @ 4:00pm)

Loads of Canadian flavor on both sidelines. Lets see if there’s a repeat of the early favorite for goal of the year!
