Ryland Rees, Andrew Kew: Lacrosse Classified

On this week’s edition of Lacrosse Classified, Evan Schemenauer jumps back into the co-host chair alongside Jake Elliott. We thought we had our Stampede Tack Letter Grade F all ready to hand out for player rentals in the WLA and MSL, and then events in Ontario changed that quickly. We also hand out our A to a team that is surprising everyone despite no household name players on the roster. Ryland Rees and Andrew Kew join us on the show.

Ryland Rees, Andrew Kew

This week’s guests are both top prospects in the NLL Entry Draft coming up in September. First up is Ryland Rees of the Burnaby Lakers and Boston Cannons. The Stony Brook graduate who plays LSM in the fields game was a surprise major contributor in Canada’s effort at the 2018 FIL World Lacrosse Champsionships and was named to the all tournament team. He also won a Minto Cup last summer with the Coquitlam Adanacs. This summer Rees is performing double duty, flying from his home in British Columbia 7 hours to Boston to play for the Cannons to fly back to BC to play for Burnaby, who are in 1st place in the WLA at the moment. Rees also recently signed on as a sponsored athlete with our sponsor, Pure Vita Labs.

Our second guest is Andrew Kew of the Oakville Rock. Kew played his collegiate ball with DII Tampa and at a young age, led the Oakville Rock in scoring last season and so far this year, also leads the team in scoring despite missing a few games due to injury. The lefty forward is going to be a highly prized commodity in the upcoming draft, with draft guru Stephen Stamp having him projected to go #1 overall.

We then wrap things up with another round of Stampede Tack‘s #WhoYaGott, and there’s a tight three-way race for 1st in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League Junior A standings with just a week to go in the season.

As always, thank you to Associated Labels & Packaging and Pure Vita Labs for their support of Lacrosse Classified.
