Six Nations Tomahawks Win First-Ever Legends Cup

Six Nations Tomahawks are the first-ever champions of Senior Series Lacrosse as they hosted the SSL playoffs over the weekend at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.

The Six Nations Tomahawks are the first-ever champions of Senior Series Lacrosse. They hosted the SSL playoffs over the weekend at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena and celebrated their success with a Senior C Provincial title and Legends Cup championship.

The five-team Ontario Senior C loop began its first season back in June, holding weekend events where teams would play three or four games each. Six Nations (13-0-1) claimed the top spot after an unbeaten regular season. The Huntsville Hawks (6-7-1) handed the Tomahawks their lone blemish on July 7 with a 9-9 tie.

The Lakefield Rage and the Peel Region Tigers each finished their campaign with a 5-9-0 mark, with Lakefield holding the tiebreaker with a better head-to-head goals for/goals against.

Six Nations took care of the Tigers in their semifinal winning 10-5.

The late season surging Rage won their fourth straight game by defeating Huntsville 9-4 to advance into the championship game. It was a remarkable turnaround to their season after winning their season opener Lakefield would post nine losses before their turnaround.

In the Legends Cup Final, Six Nations wouldn’t be denied as the Tomahawks cruised to a 10-0 victory to claim the championship.

SSL Awards

Senior Series Lacrosse also handed out end-of-year awards on championship Sunday.

MVP: Alex Kedoh Hill, Six Nations Tomahawks

Offensive Player of the Year: Alex Kedoh Hill

Defensive Player of the Year: Matteo Nubile, Huntsville Hawks

Most Sportsmanlike: Layne Smith, Six Nations and Andrew Wood, Huntsville
