Editor’s note: Welcome to another installment of “Spotted,” where we shine a light on lacrosse spotted in unexpected places, such as on TV, in a movie, or even in real life. Be sure to drop us a line if you spot the beautiful sport of lacrosse in a place you didn’t expect.
This week’s spotting was sent in all the way from Sendai Ikuei Gakuen High School in Japan, courtesy of their girls lacrosse coach. It’s of a comedy movie, Dear White People, which is about the lives of black students at fictional Ivy League school Winchester University.
I had never even heard of this movie before, but it doesn’t seem to be a stretch that there would be some lacrosse guys at an Ivy! In the spotting, it appears that a bunch of guys, possibly fraternity brothers of the “Webster House,” are posing with their various sports equipment. Looks like we have a few rugby guys, a baseball player in the back, and yep, two lacrosse players.
As you might expect, this comedy seems ripe with social commentary. You can see the spotting itself up top, but if you’re interested in learning more about the movie, here’s the trailer:
