Editor’s note: Welcome to another installment of “Spotted,” where we shine a light on lacrosse spotted in unexpected places, such as on TV, in a movie, or even in real life. Be sure to drop us a line if you spot the beautiful sport of lacrosse in a place you didn’t expect.
When we have a midweek Spotted, you know something big must be going on… and it’s a police manhunt for a gunman who was carrying a lacrosse stick. Yes, you read that right.
According to Syracuse.com, authorities are searching for a man who appeared from the woods near the scene of a mobile home fire in the Onondaga Nation. The man fired a handgun into the air as firefighters attended to the fire. He was also carrying a lacrosse stick.
Now, this certainly is a very bizarre story, and there are a lot of puzzling parts to this. Is the gunman related to the trailer fire? If so, why would he call attention to himself by shooting the gun? If not, why would he come out of the woods and shoot the gun at all?
And then there’s the lacrosse stick. This honestly seems like the least confusing part of the story. Lacrosse and the Onondaga Nation are inherently tied together, and it doesn’t seem crazy to think that a man would be carrying his lacrosse stick around. Not that it’s normal to also be carrying a handgun, but again, the lacrosse stick almost seems inconsequential here.
When we find out what happened, we’ll let you know!
