Lacrosse the Nations (LtN) is calling the lacrosse community to come together like never before. With the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic, lacrosse teams across the country are unable to finish out their spring seasons. With this loss comes so many emotions and untold stories – seniors without an opportunity to close their career and players, coaches, and fans left without closure.
While most lacrosse will resume as soon as this crisis is over, the loss of this season has led to the cancellation of Team LtN – a campaign the organization runs every season to provide a platform for lacrosse players to give back by raising funds and awareness for youth lacrosse programming abroad. Without a platform for teams to pursue this philanthropy, the lacrosse careers of LtN’s student-athletes’ abroad may be over for good.
Lacrosse the Nations Co-Founder, Brett Hughes, remarked:
In times like these, we can all come together and find ways to serve. Helping others when the world spins out of control is the greatest level of service and shows our belief in the future.
To provide teams and players with a project to continue their spring lacrosse progress, while coming together to compete for a higher cause, Lacrosse the Nations has launched the Squat for Good #stayathomechallenge.
Next week, players and fans will come together over social media to collect donations for squats to perform at home: $1 donated = 5 squats. On Friday, April 17th, fundraisers will honor Global Youth Service Day by counting up their donations and performing their squats for good! Funds raised from the challenge will benefit the sustainability of Lacrosse the Nations youth programs abroad, to ensure student-athletes in underserved communities have lacrosse to come back to when COVID-19 comes to a close.
