Throwback Thursday: The Powell Family

This week’s Throwback Thursday post features another stellar family style look at the past. This time we go old school lacrosse with Mike, Ryan, and Casey. You may know them as the Powells.

Welcome to the new and improved world of Old School, now called Throwback Thursdays!

Two weeks ago we featured an epic spread on Chazz Woodson, last week the crew from Trilogy Lacrosse answered with vigor, and then Neal Powless went even further into the past with some photos from when he was only 2 years old, but already playing!

This week we are treated to some throwback shots of the first family of lacrosse, The POWELLS!

From Casey to Ryan to Mike, we got our hands on some absolute treasures. Behold the Upstate magic:

Ryan Powell, as a kid. No offset sticks back then!
Mike shooting on Casey. I’m not so sure Casey knows that…

Where did those high socks come from? Oh, right here:

RP rocking #1 for Carthage in high school. Note the all white gloves.
RP doing a little puddle fishing.

If you want to see more of the Powell clan, check out Rhino Lacrosse on Facebook. Lots of lacrosse, trivia, memes, and fun going on over there!

How Do You Open Practice Every Day?

The opening of any activity sets the tone for participants. To open practice every single day, my high school lacrosse team is practicing yoga; it’s not a long sequences of poses, nor is it particularly “difficult” in that players are huffing and puffing, but what it does is zero the focus in around our body and what is going on with it in this moment.
