Editor’s Note: Welcome back to Tuesday Tie Up from Epoch Lacrosse! Each week, we feature a guest lacrosse personality to help you see how the big guns string their heads. You’re sure to learn a thing or two, so pay attention! We’ll let Epoch take it from here…
Chris Burke and Sam Chidester from Mainely Mesh took a break from #LaxCon to Tie Up The Hawk together, in the first ever duel Tie Up Tuesday. This duo is well known for being a couple of very energetic stringers with a lot of character.
The Tie Up started with a game of rock, paper scissors to determine who would get first pick at choosing the stringing materials.
After the best of …a lot… Chris took the win and the chance to pick the colors and the stringing kit he wanted.
Once the two both had their stringing kits picked out, they were off to the laces (see what I did there). Both were looking to Tie Up a great pocket but there was also a sense of competition as both guys wanted to be done before the other. It was fun to watch these two tie up The Hawk complete with a bit of smack talk.
Each pocket was tied up in very similar style; they both strung a mid/high pocket with a nice channel by utilizing the high pocket design.
Sam used two shooters, which gives a nice release and snap on the ball.
Chris did the same thing but doubled up the nylon at the top for a hard release. This gave a similar feel to Sam’s but by using a different technique.
This was a fun and unique Tie Up to be a part of and allowed for us to finally hang out with the Mainely Mesh crew, these two are very skilled and passionate stringers.
Mainley Mesh’s goal “is to provide a consistent mesh pocket at an affordable price so that more players can stop worrying about their sticks and start focusing on their game.
