The third season of the Women’s Arena Lacrosse League is scheduled to begin this weekend with all teams competing at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena on Saturday. The games begin at 1:00 PM.
The Arena Lacrosse League — a development league affiliated with the National Lacrosse League — added a women’s box lacrosse league division in 2018 with three teams (RiverWolves, Shockwave and Snipers) competing in the first season. The Lady Steelhawks were added for the 2019 season and a fifth (Lady Outlaws) will compete this season.
The Lady RiverWolves are the defending champion in the women’s box lacrosse league after defeating Shockwave in the ALL Cup Final last April. Both teams went 12-4 in the regular season.
The Lady Snipers, who were the first-ever champion in 2018, finished 4-8 before falling in the 2019 semifinal. Expansion side Steelhawks did not win a game in their debut season.
