Stick Trick Saturday: The Orbit

Coming at you from New York, New York! I’m visiting the “City That Never Sleeps” aka “The Big Apple” aka “The New Home of Paul Rabil” for the very first time, and it hit me that there is probably no better place in the world for an episode of Stick Trick Saturday than the world-famous Central Park!

My favorite Ghost (that isn’t Casper) and I are showing off a little in the city and hopefully all of this performing will earn me a dollar or two on the street! Today’s trick was made popular by NY Lizards attackman and stick trick master, Matt Gibson. I nicknamed it the Jiggy Gibby, but he calls it The Orbit, so let’s go with that.

The trick here is to keep your hands moving in a circular fashion. You can start by trying to flick the ball over your arm and catching it in a stall, but after a couple of those, you’re ready to keep momentum going and keep the ball “orbiting” around your forearm.

The Orbit is one of those tricks that you really need to be able to stall in order to do, so if you’re not there yet, be sure to check out this lesson from earlier in Season 2. Moto-grip also makes The Orbit a zillion times easier, so I’d say go with that. Most importantly, just have fun!
