Stick Trick Saturday: High Knees

Knee bounces were appearing left and right in our contest combos, so I figured that was my call to action to teach the High Knees for today’s Stick Trick Saturday lesson.

Can I get an O-H?! Okay, okay, that’s over for now (actually, we will get to the winners below) and we are back with another good old fashion Stick Trick Saturday! My trusty Ghost shaft and I are kickin’ it at our favorite lookout spot watchin’ some dudes surf the mighty Boise River and we’ve got something fun to show you…

While sifting through all of the contest entries from last week, I noticed one trick in particular that we haven’t covered yet but a lot of you were doing. Knee bounces were appearing left and right so I figured that was my call to action to teach the basics of this pretty simple trick and then share some ideas on how to take it to the next level!

Just like when your stretching it out or working on a little conditioning, you have to bring those knees up high, so I’m calling it the High Knees!

You’re going to want to have your thighs essentially parallel to the ground when you make contact with the ball, but don’t stop your motion there. Continue to bring your legs up while hitting the ball to lift it back into the air where you can control it.

I like to go through my arms but feel free to try out whatever is comfortable for you. Just try to make it hit about 3-4 inches down from your knee cap where it’s easier to control and doesn’t hurt as bad!

Once you have that down, try throwing in some shaft rotations around the ball before catching it, use both knees or heck, even try bouncing it from one knee to another with some shaft rotations in between.

Yeah soccer guys, I’m calling you out here!

Tri-State National Notes & Observation

When I was 17 years old, if you told me I would be frequenting Mercer Country Community College in Princeton Junction, New Jersey I would call you silly names. And yet, here we are in 2014 and I'm recovering from another trip to MCC where Tri-State holds their annual summer event.

Hot Pot: No Nuance In The Richard Sherman Fallout

The fallout from Richard Sherman's post game interview is ravaging the American sports landscape right now, and I'm a little shocked at how clearly the line is being drawn in this situation. Note I did NOT say Sherman's interview is ravaging America, because it is not. It was just an interview. I am talking about the manufactured fallout. It's very different.
