The handful of Minnesota Swarm players taking part in Wednesday’s small practice session were a bit late to arrive, but the four Canadians had a good reason: they had to watch the second period of Canada’s hockey game against Latvia in the Sochi Olympics.
The Minnesota Swarm made the trek to Rochester, NY to take on the Knighthawks in preseason NLL action, and the game was exciting from the get go. If the regular season lives up to the goodness that was this scrimmage, the National Lacrosse League is in for a great year.
Growing up in Minnesota, Nick Jonas attended Swarm games, eventually he would get drafted by organization and signed to a two year deal before he ever stepped on the floor. Follow Nick on his journey to the National Lacrosse League.
Minnesota is on board, are you? If you read my last article about the Jr. NLL, you probably noticed the guys dressed in the yellow honey comb jerseys. That would be the Junior Swarm and although they haven’t been playing lacrosse indoors for very long, the instruction and commitment they have received from Aime Caines, Ryan Benesch and the rest of the Swarm organization, is what I believe rocketed them to the top.

See below for the complete 2013 NLL Draft Results and some commentary on how it all went down. I’ll provide some general observations, and name a couple of guys worth watching!
First we knew Matt Gibson as a Yale baller, and then an MLL All Star. Now we see Matt Gibson tearing up the world of box lacrosse for the Minnesota Swarm. Sick diving goal by Gibby!

The NLL is once again broadcasting games on TV. This is a good thing, but the presentation is FAR from perfect. Connor Wilson has some critique that will help improve the product of the broadcasts and draw in new fans. Seems pretty simple. Is anyone listening? What are your thoughts on the NLL on TV?

Chris Fox, someone very much in the know about the NLL, has stepped into Connor’s shoes and will be providing NLL weekly previews on LAS. This is a good thing because Chris knows his box lacrosse AND he went to an American University, so he can speak to everyone. And he’s Canadian. That never hurts, eh?!?!
