I was going to wait to use this video in a long recap post on the inaugural ULax NYC Box Lacrosse League but it’s good enough to stand on its own. Justin Otto of Top Side Lacrosse (and the LaxAllStars.com box team!) brought in a video camera, filmed a bit when he wasn’t playing and then convinced beer drinking fans to videotape the rest, while not stealing his camera. Within hours of LaxAllStars.com winning the Championship on Saturday, Otto had prepared an awesome highlight video. Very impressive turnaround time.
We’ll be back later today with tons of photos, stats, recaps and lots of name dropping… After all, there were some pretty well-known field players in this league and no, I’m certainly not talking about myself. Although my behind the back 5 hole goal in the video below makes me look much better than I actually am. The sun even shines on a dog’s butt sometimes, what can I say?
Even with all the snow (and the two hours of shoveling ice off the rink I had to do Friday), this league was still a lot of fun. There is a growing interest amongst the lacrosse players of NYC in boxla, and after playing a shortened season, a lot of guys want to get back to the floor this summer. We’ll be attempting to run a weeknight league this summer so keep your fingers crossed we can get clearance to use a covered rink with lights that we found! For now, I’ll leave you with this:
