Like many of their National Team counterparts, Sweden Lacrosse has officially released their 27-man roster for the 2018 FIL World Lacrosse Championship in Netanya, Israel. While only 23 athletes will make the final cut, the other 4 will serve as alternates in case of injuries and complications.
World competitions are nothing new for the Swedish program. Sweden placed 11 out of 38 in Denver’s 2014 games, their 4th event, and as high as 9th in Australia’s hosting of the 2002 championships. They will focus on fighting their way back to the top of European lacrosse, after slipping from 3rd in 2012 to 13th in the 2016 Euros. With an ever-growing pool of homegrown athletes venturing into NCAA programs, Sweden is poised for a finish in the top third of the world.
