Anything One Can Thumb, Two Can Thumb Better?

It has been a pastime of mine (albeit a lame one) to look through game pictures on lax.com and look for illegal sticks or other procedural violations and from time to time I have commented on Duke’s Max Quinzani propensity to thumb the ball when it is in his stick and he is carrying the ball or dodging.  A player is not actually allowed to touch the plastic of the head at all, so even if he isn’t touching the ball, it is still a possible advantage and therefore illegal.

Tourney Recaps and Weekend Predictions!

First let’s recap the action in Denver: the MCLA tournament features day after day of high quality lacrosse and results in a true champion that has been tested by the best teams over a grueling 5 day schedule of games.  Teams that had a couple of guys do most of the work tend to fall to the wayside as depth, teamwork and conditioning become bigger factors.

Biggest Weekend Preview EVER! WIN OR GO HOME!

I guess you can tell from the headline that post-season lacrosse gets me excited…  REALLY, REALLY EXCITED.  The best of the best are all playing each other [with the exceptions of Loyola, NYIT, Mercyhurst, Ithaca, Geneseo, Michigan State and Florida who make up the “last teams out” list] and we are making our way towards the biggest games of the year that will take place in Foxborough, MA and Denver, CO.

Air Force’s Dan Gnazzo Can Do It All

Air Force’s Dan Gnazzo was just named the First Team GWLL LSM for the 2009 season. What first struck me as the most impressive fact regarding this selection was the fact that the 2nd team LSM was ALSO from Air Force. How often do you see two specialized position players from the same team earn both spots on an all-conference team? Answer: not often!

Weekend Preview and Predictions

We are getting closer and closer to the National Playoffs at every level collegiately and the intensity just keeps ratcheting up and up.  This weekend all of the games I preview and predict will have playoff implications and as usual, I expect to see some upsets.  Will they be the upsets I predict? probably not but at least the action on the field is exciting enough to make up for it!

Lacrosse Stick Dye and String Jobs

As the regular college season winds down here in the US and the playoffs loom, it always strikes me that the laxiest part of the year is almost over – but fear not! LAS has your back and will be bringing you a ton of sweet summer content. One of the many features (including elite summer tourney coverage and a photo expose on lacrosse in Perth, Australia) will be a stringing and dyeing feature or contest.

Weekend Preview and Predictions!

There is so much sweet, sweet lacrosse action going on right now, it is making my head spin.  I will try my best to sift through the hundreds of games going on this weekend and make my picks on the game I think matter most.  This week we will be highlighting the MCLA games first and heeeeeeere we go!

The Grait Gait Helmet Debait

(Editor’s note: Wheniwasakid will periodically review and give recommendations for lacrosse gear. Drop him a line if you have a review you would like to see and check out his take on Gait Helmets..)

Gait/DeBeer has been manufacturing lacrosse products for decades and this Upstate NY company has maintained a presence in my personal lacrosse life for over 15 years.  A few years back, I heard they were coming out with a helmet and I was actually excited because:

Weekend Action Preview!

Last week we saw some great games with Duke taking down UVA, Colby beating Bowdoin 9-8, Roanoke slipping by a very good Washington and Lee squad and Sonoma State taking down both Colorado and Colorado State by 1 goal each in the span of only 3 days! Very impressive wins all around.

Weekend Action Preview! D1, D2, D3 & MCLA

Another weekend is on its way and another great slate of quality match-ups presents itself for comment and predictions.  Feel free to add your own in the comments section, but I’m feeling pretty solid with my picks this weekend…
