Building Team Culture At Jacksonville U

Jacksonville U. Head Lacrosse Coach John Galloway and I currently in the early stages of building team culture. We’re four weeks into the season and crushing 6 AM practices like chocolate donuts (I have a Division I sweet tooth).

We’re trying to establish a tempo that best suits our strategy and we’re learning what the team is made of and so far. Snd so far they have shown tremendous effort and grit. I like effort and grit. It gets me out of bed in the morning.

Finally, we’ve broadened our coaching horizon’s with the addition of Ryan Liebel from Providence College to the staff. He’s a product of Avon Old Farms School and the Minutemen of Massachusetts and rounds out our coaching roster perfectly. We need all the guiding power we can get to stay true to our THREE big goals for the season. It’s going to take a lot of effort, concentration and toughness to accomplish all three but I have faith. Tremendous faith.

Jacksonville U - Building Team Culture article by Casey PowellWe want to be the most respected team on campus on and off the field.

We want to lead the country in shots and ground balls.

We want to be the toughest team in NCAA lacrosse.

JG, Ryan and I took great care to write those goals down on paper. I took great care in re-typing them so that I could share them with you. I like Steve Maraboli’s style when it comes to attaining your goals.

“If you have a goal, write it down. If you do not write it down, you do not have a goal, you have a wish.”

We don’t wish down here in Florida. We make it happen.

Here’s to building team culture!
