First up is Day 5 line results, then get to the NEW Day 6 FIL Lines. It’s like clockwork. Games where I picked the winner correctly will be highlighted in BOLD. Games where I got the winner wrong will be highlighted in RED. Games where I predict a score within 2 goals are BOLD on the right.
Sunday July 15th FIL Lacrosse Lines
Finland Vs Norway – FIN by 8.5 goals – Finland won 11-9. Norway covered the spread.
Russia Vs Luxembourg – RUS by 3.5 goals – Russia won 24-1, easily beating the spread.
China Vs Turkey – TUR by 2.5 goals – Turkey won 13-12. China covered by 1.5 goals.
Germany Vs Hong Kong – GER by 4.5 goals – Germany won 12-4, beating the spread.
New Zealand Vs Puerto Rico – PR by 5.5 goals – PR won 13-1, beating the spread.
Korea Vs Mexico – MEX by 9.5 goals – Korea won 9-6, covering with a win!
Philippines Vs Switzerland – PHI by 5.5 goals – Philippines won 11-5, beating spread by .5 goals.
Peru Vs Jamaica – JAM by 6.5 goals – Jamaica won 17-4, beating the spread.
Netherlands Vs France – NED by 4.5 goals – Netherlands won 13-6, beating the spread.
Sweden Vs Italy – SWE by .5 goals – Italy won 13-11, covering with a win!
Ireland Vs Latvia – LAT by .5 goals – Ireland won 12-7, covering with a win!
Wales Vs Uganda – WAL by 6.5 goals – Wales won 17-1, beating the spread.
Colombia Vs Belgium – BEL by 3.5 goals – Belgium won 7-6, but Colombia covered.
Slovakia Vs Denmark – DEN by .5 goals – Slovakia won 8-5, covering with a win!
Czech Republic Vs Argentina – ARG by .5 goals – Argentina won 12-8, beating the spread.
Hungary Vs Bermuda – BER by 1.5 goals – Hungary won 7-6, covering with a win!
Austria Vs Spain – AUS by .5 goals – Austria won 12-10 beating the spread by 1.5 goals.
Croatia Vs Taiwan – Croatia by 7.5 goals – Croatia won 7-6. Taiwan covered the spread.
Sunday Blue Division FIL Lacrosse Lines
Scotland Vs England – ENG by 2.5 goals – England won 11-8, beating the spread by .5 goals.
USA Vs Canada – USA by .5 goals – USA won 11-10, beating the spread by .5 goals.
Iroquois Vs Australia – IRO by 6.5 goals – Iroquois won 16-9, beating the spread by .5 goals.
Let’s start with the good. I pretty much nailed the Blue Division, went 3-for-3 on picking winners and my margins were all within .5 goals of what happened. It’s nice to be perfect, even in small bunches, because when it comes to the lower pool games, I had a bunch of misses.
I went 16-5 on my picks for the day, which brings me to 62 out of 68 game winners correctly predicted overall. 6 games finished within 2 goals of the predicted margins and 12 teams beat the spread with wins, while 9 teams covered the spread or won an upset.
Now on to those 5 misses – Korea, Italy, Slovakia, Hungary, and Ireland all won when I thought they’d lose, and while I had two of the games being one-goal affairs, Korea really impressed me with their win over Mexico, as MEX was favored big and had been looking good. Ireland played great lacrosse all game long and shot the lights out to beat Latvia convincingly, and Italy put together a great comeback win to take down favored Sweden. Slovakia and Denmark battled for 3 quarters but a strong 4th put Slovakia on top by 3 goals. Bermuda had the ball with less than a minute left on offense, and the game was tied 6-6, but Hungary’s goalie, Johnathan Yen, got the ball, heaved it the length of the field, and they scored the game winner 1-on-1 vs the Bermuda goalie with 16 seconds left to win the game in regulation. Maximum effort!
As I said in earlier posts, I LOVE being surprised! Well done to all these teams!
On to the Day 6 FIL contests… and the predictions… and the ALL IMPORTANT lines! (that was a joke, I shouldn’t have to say that)
Monday July 16th FIL Lacrosse Lines
The Day 6 FIL action promises to be exciting and, hopefully, a little more unpredictable. Predicted margins are starting to tighten – expect to see a LOT more .5 goal favorites as we move forward!
