Denver 2014 International Lacrosse Update 4

The FIL 2014 World Lacrosse Championships are only a Spring season away, and International Lacrosse fans worldwide are extremely excited. National teams around the world are preparing to make the trip to Colorado for two weeks (or more in some cases) in July, and that means a lot of training camps, scrimmages, and quite a bit of fundraising!

Ireland Vs Israel Scrimmage

Ireland and Israel made the trip out to Bayville, NY for a scrimmage and while the weather was cold and the wind was brisk, both sides still got a great game in on Sunday. Ireland officially won the Denver 2014 warm up game 11-10.

Thailand – Singapore Scrimmage

Members of the TLA travelled to Singapore for a friendly scrimmage this past weekend, which the home side won, 9-7. Both teams got a good run in, and the competitive game helped both sides prep for the World Championships.

Dutch National Team Video – Destination Denver

Dutch National Team – US Tryouts

AMSTERDAM, NL- March 17, 2014- Today, the Men’s Dutch National Lacrosse Team announced North American based tryouts for any players interested in being a part of the 2014 World Championship Team.

Tryouts will take place on the weekend of April 5th and 6th at two separate locations. April 5th will be held in Syracuse at Christian Brothers Academy (6245 Randall Road, Syracuse, NY) from 3-7 PM. On April 6th, the tryouts will be held at Eastern University (1300 Eagle Road, St. Davids, PA) from 9:30-11:30 AM.

Potential athletes are only required to come to one of the sessions. To qualify for tryouts, each athlete must have a valid Dutch passport and must register with the programs manager, Mary Bergmann, via MDNTTeamManager@gmail.com. Registration closes on March 27th. No late entries will be accepted.

The 2014 World Championships in Denver, CO, will mark the third World Championship tournament that the Men’s Dutch National Team (MDNT) has participated in. The Netherlands boasts a strong coaching staff, led by Neal Powless. Powless was a three-time All-American, four time World Championship player for the Iroquois Nationals, and a NLL World Champion for the Rochester Knighthawks.

Once again, registration for tryouts will run until 10 PM on March 27th. Players should plan accordingly to make sure their eligibility and required paperwork is submitted on time. For more information on tryouts, or how you can support the MDNT, contact Mary Bergmann.
