I love this quote. It’s simple and it’s clear. But I know that I need to be reminded on occasion, because as we progress in this world, there are more and more people or organizations that are asking us to give. More often than not, they are asking for money and sometimes we just don’t have it. We can’t allow ourselves to be fooled into believing that money is the only thing that we can give. And at the same time, we cannot fool ourselves into thinking that if we don’t have money for this or that, that we are off the giving hook.
This is the case in all aspects of life. We give to our partners in relationships. We give to the schools that we love. We give to the organizations that we’ve been a part of. We give to the people that we mentor or that mentor us. The list goes on. We may not have the dollars and cents to spare at a particular moment in time. But we should always find a way to give. And when we give, it always comes back to us. Giving is a short-term investment with long-term benefits.
