Premier Lacrosse League Announces ‘PLL Academy’ Player-Led Camps and Events

As part of its commitment to growing the sport of lacrosse, the Premier Lacrosse League is announcing the formation of the PLL Academy with the goal of connecting PLL’s world-class athletes with the next generation of lacrosse players.

PLL Academy will operate year-round instructional and specialty events in over 30 states, with participation from over two dozen PLL players. A diverse set of camps and events will aim to provide meaningful experiences for youth and high-school players to improve their skills in a fun and engaging environment.

“Unique to most major sports leagues, PLL players are an arms reach from the next generation of athletes – and we want to lean into that,” explains Mick Davis, Director of PLL Academy. “Our athletes will be able to work with growing lacrosse communities throughout the country, providing world-class instruction and powerful face-to-face experiences.”

The league will provide resources and backend support so players can focus on instruction and engaging with attendees. The events will also have the benefit of providing additional income opportunities for PLL athletes – supporting our global mission of full-time lacrosse at the pro level.

“In-line with the league’s tour-based model, PLL Academy will leverage internal resources to maximize engagement with a diverse set of communities and organizations across the US and beyond,” explains Paul Rabil, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer. “In-season, PLL Academy will support our ‘festival’ model with uniquely intimate experiences between our players and our fans in a way that builds skill and creates a real bond between young players and our athletes.”

PLL Academy will not operate any teams, instead it will focus on complementing the work of youth organizations by bringing in top talent to support player development and build excitement around the sport of lacrosse.

With a continued eye on growth into underserved communities, PLL Academy will work with PLL Assists’ partners to provide scholarships for targeted events.
