The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced today an attendance total of 13,681 over three games this past Saturday and Sunday (June 1-2) at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA.
Anchored by two Saturday games that ended in thrilling overtime finishes, and a Sunday game that saw one of the highest levels of competition in pro lacrosse history, the PLL action drove consumption and engagement across platforms.
Additionally, PLL social channels generated over 20.2 million impressions, nearly 3 million views, and over 1.1 million engagements over the weekend – representing a 12% social following growth in just 48 hours.
Interactions across PLL social channels hit record highs, not just for the league but the sport as a whole. In total, the league generated 1.1 million social interactions across Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. PLL on Instagram accounted for 645K interactions between May 31st and June 2nd, 255% higher than the previous highest total in the sport, set during the NCAA Final Four in 2017. By distributing content real time to players during the weekend, PLL players posted over 150 times on Instagram along, leading to an additional 325K interactions, accounting for a 17.06% interaction rate.
On Twitter, #PLLBoston trended in Massachusetts over the weekend, as the league amassed over 5 million impressions. The majority of the conversation centered around the innovative broadcast featuring real time player-to-commentator interviews, in-game player interviews, and new camera angles to cover the sport like never before.
The PLL season continues next weekend with three total games over Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9, at Red Bull Arena. Weekend action will be highlighted by Sunday’s marquee matchup between Chaos LC and Atlas LC at 2PM ET on NBC. Saturday will start with game between Whipsnakes LC and Chrome LC at 1PM ET on NBC Sports Gold and conclude with Redwoods LC and Archers LC facing off at 4PM ET on NBCSN.
