Syracuse lacrosse made a splash two weeks ago by announcing the retirement of John Desko and the hiring of Gary Gait to replace him. This move has set off a chain of events that shook the lacrosse world.
SYRACUSE LACROSSE RENEWAL
First order of business for a newly announced men’s head coach Gary Gait, to complete his staff. He chose not to retain assistant coach Lelan Rogers and instead hired one of lacrosse’s greatest players/coaches in Dave Pietramala. Assistant coach Pat March has been retained on staff by Gait.
Together Gait and Pietramala make up what is widely being discussed as a super staff. Each coach is considered to be the best player at their respective positions in lacrosse history.
While Coach Gait has never led a college men’s program he is sure to benefit from the many years of experience that Coach Pietramala brings to the table. This combination of experience, knowledge, and notoriety is sure to bring a new look and feel to a storied Syracuse program.

Clemson announced plans to add a women’s lacrosse program for the 22-23 season. The ACC is renowned for its women’s lacrosse programs, and an ACC program has advanced to the national title match in each of the past nine tournaments and currently claims the reigning national champions.
