Throwback Thursday: Cortland vs. Hartwick 1989

cortland_hartwick_1989_lacrosse

At the :30 second mark of the video a Hartwick player stuffs a shot, fights for a GB, and then gets wrestled down to the ground. Today, parents and fans would be up in arms, and screaming for a penalty. There is a little bit of that in the audio, but a solid number of chuckles can also be heard. It was all part of the game back then, even if it was a little bit ugly!

EXTENDED: Big USA Lacrosse Hit GIF

Craig Chase shot some great photos at the USA – Loyola scrimmage last weekend in Alexandria, VA, but some of them are even better in sets! A couple of great images from a big hit makes for a great GIF, and in this case, the hit is VERY clean, and from what we can tell, completely legal.

Team USA – Loyola Scrimmage Photos

Team USA Blue took on Loyola at 2pm on Saturday as part of the Play for Parkinson’s event in Alexandria, VA. Loyola also scrimmaged against Georgetown, and we have photos from that fall game as well. Photo gallery by Craig Chase!

Photo of the Week: Greyhound or Camel?

Loyola Lacrosse Alumni Game

Last week we shared some photos from the Loyola lacrosse alumni games, and one photo in particular stood out to me. It made such an impression that I thought it needed its own post, and its own caption.

Loyola – Georgetown Scrimmage Photos

Craig Chase took in the recent Loyola – Georgetown scrimmage, and came away with a ton of great photos of both the Hounds and Hoyas. Loyola took on Gtown at noon this past Saturday at the Play For Parkinson’s Event in Alexandria, VA. Right after this scrimmage, the Hounds took on Team USA Blue.

Loyola Alumni Game – Goalie Chest Cam

Craig Chase brought out a new toy when he was shooting photos of the Loyola Alumni Game, and he strapped to GoPro onto one of Loyola Alumni goalies, and got some up close and personal video of the scrimmage. The action comes in hot and heavy and it’s a great perspective on the speed of the game at a high level.

Photos: Loyola Lacrosse Alumni Games

Loyola held its alumni game this past weekend, and it featured two games: the first was the old guys splitting up, and playing against each other. Photo Credit: Craig Chase There are a ton of traditional sticks in this game, as well as a nice smattering of Loyola gear from over the ages: After the […]

Mike Sawyer Breaks Helmet With Shot

Mike Sawyer tore it up at Loyola’s alumni game this weekend, and when he wasn’t scoring goals, he was terrifying goalies, and sometimes breaking their helmets. One of Loyola’s goalies took a Sawyer shot off the dome, and the shot actually cracked the shell of the helmet. Now THAT is some SERIOUS power!

Fall Ball: The Good, The Bad, The Suspensions

Welcome to Fall Ball! It doesn’t matter if you say it’s all about the grind, or all about effort… you’re wrong either way. Fall Ball is about two things: 1) building for the Spring, and 2) hopefully, staying out of trouble. Some programs have been doing a great job with #1 and #2, while others are struggling with at least one part of the equation.

Photo of the Week: Hounds Stay Hounds

Charlotte Hounds

Last weekend’s Hounds vs. Bayhawks game was a good one, with the Hawks holding on for a two goal lead and establishing the matchups for the playoffs. Photographer Craig Chase was on hand to take in the game, and he got a great one of Loyola Greyhounds grads Eric Lusby and Josh Hawkins, both of the MLL’s Charlotte Hounds.

Go Go Go Coaching: Lacrosse Vs Football

Kliff Kingsbury is now the youngest coach in the BCS, at only 33 years of age. He was the offensive coordinator at Texas A&M last year, and helped propel Johnny Manziel to a Heisman worthy season, so trusting his knowledge and approach should be a little easier, even if you’re an age-ist.

Game Photos: Ohio State Beats Loyola

Game Photos! The Ohio State – Loyola game was a true thriller, as Loyola went up with a slight lead in the third, and the OSU stormed back to win the game 18-11, scoring seven unanswered goals to switch the momentum completely.
