Limestone defeated LIU Post 12-6 for the D2 national title in NCAA Men’s Lacrosse today. The game started out tight, but Limestone slowly began to pull away and never looked back. On the day, they were the best team, but the margin of victory was larger than anticipated, and probably bigger than many segments of the game would make you think.

Game Photos: Tufts Wins 2014 D3 Lacrosse Title
Tufts took down Salisbury 12-9 to claim the 2014 NCAA Division 3 Men’s Lacrosse title. The Gulls of SU went down 1-0 on an early Tufts goal, but would build up an early 3-1 lead, and look in control. Tufts fought back, winning face offs and creating transition and the game was tied at half, 5-5. Tufts began to inch away in the third quarter, and eventually built up a solid lead. Scoring 3 goals in 48 seconds never hurts…

2014 NCAA Championship & The LSM
We’re set up to see FIVE great games this weekend for NCAA Championship Weekend (two D1 semis, the D2 final, D3 final, and D1 final), and as usual, long stick midfielders will play a huge part. While there may not be a CJ Costabile of 2014 (then again, there may be!), these guys will play a huge role in how the games turn out.

Less than a week ago, if you had asked me if we were going to see a new champion in D1 men’s lacrosse in 2014, I would have said “unlikely, at best”. 5 days later and my answer has changed to, “it seems incredibly likely right now, if not down right probable.”

Wednesday NCAA Tournament Action Recap
Yesterday, the NCAA tournament kicked off with play-in games for the D1 bracket, and first round action going down in men’s D3 lacrosse. We’ll run down the results, provide video where we can, and talk about the big match ups in the next round.
Is This NCAA Lacrosse Tournament Field Serious?
In the spirit of “Is this D1 lacrosse poll serious?”, I’ll be taking a look at the NCAA D1 Lacrosse Tournament teams and asking whether or not they were ranked correctly. Was Duke really deserving of the #1 seed? Should a non-AQ Ivy team really have made it in to the tourney over Hofstra? Let’s take a look and see if this selection group is serious!
2014 NCAA Tournament Expansion
Earlier this week, we hinted that the NCAA D1 Men’s Lacrosse could expand in 2014 due to a new NCAA rule, allowing certain sports (like lacrosse) to count play-in games as tourney games. This means the NCAA can pay expenses, and the games will count as official tournament appearances.
