The Big East men's lacrosse conference should be rock solid this year, as the conference is home to a national title contender and a couple of other programs well positioned to make a jump in the NCAA D1 men's lacrosse landscape.

Providence College made the short trip up Route 95 to visit Boston University last night, and the host Terriers dropped a 10-7 decision to the visiting Friars. Originally, the game had been scheduled to be played in Providence, but weather forced a change to Boston, and the game was played at Nickerson Field, where the Boston Cannons used to play games.

The NCAA D1 season is now underway! During the first couple of weeks of lacrosse season we’ll be finishing up the Alphabetical 2014 NCAA D1 Previews! Like last year, we are going through all of the D1 men’s teams for 2014 (there are 67 this year!) and we are now moving on to the Providence Friars, located in Providence, RI.

Providence College is currently one of many D1 lacrosse programs working and hoping to make the jump, and we got a great look inside the PC program, to see how they are going about making change and improvements. Tommy Gilligan shot the PC campus and their alumni game (awesome photos below!), and CW got to speak with Head Coach Chris Gabrielli.

A lot of big name NCAA D1 lacrosse schools have picked up early losses, some of which were very surprising, and this creates a somewhat strange predicament, where smaller, lesser known squads are undefeated, and trying to break through to the next level.
