Team USA trounces Aussie Sharks 22-3 for 2014 Championship birth

Twelve members of the US Men’s National team scored points in Team USA’s 22-3 semi-final victory over Australia on Thursday. With David Lawson (4g, 2a), Paul Rabil (3g, 2a), and Brendan Mundorf (3g, 2a) leading the way for Team USA, the Aussie Sharks struggled to clear the ball and control time of possession.

Nevertheless, the Sharks were relentless against a mammoth USA squad, playing the same brand of ball they’ve become known for in Denver and never letting up until the final whistle. And the fans? When it comes to the Aussie lacrosse enthusiasts in the stands, the words “give up” or “quit” are non-existent in their vocabulary.

On the fresh turf inside Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado, the one-sided match also presented a unique opportunity to capture Team USA’s red, white, blue uniform combo complete with new all white Cascade R lacrosse helmets on camera.

Australia will face the Iroquois Nationals today at 2:00p.m. for 3rd place. Team USA will face Canada, who defeated the Iroquois Nationals 12-6, for the 2014 FIL World Lacrosse Championship – a rematch of the 2010 title game in Manchester – at 7:00 p.m. Mountain Time tonight on ESPNU.

Team USA 22, Australia 3
