Nike Joins WPLL to Propel Professional Women’s Lacrosse

WPLL and Nike announce multi-year partnership

Pennington, NJ (May 8, 2020) — The Women’s Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) today announced a multi-year partnership with Nike to make the iconic apparel company the official athletic apparel partner and athletic footwear partner of the WPLL. Nike, now a “Champion” sponsor of the league, marks a new era for women in sport as the partnership is the first of its kind in professional women’s lacrosse.

“The WPLL is thrilled to partner with Nike Lacrosse” says CEO, Michele DeJuliis “Our goal since starting this league three years ago was to find partners who truly believe in supporting and empowering female athletes. This multi-year agreement with Nike truly illustrates their commitment to female athletes. Our goal is to align our athletes and league with world-class brands and this agreement delivers on that promise. We couldn’t ask for a better ‘Champion’ partner that cares about female athletes and their personal growth.”

In the coming seasons, lacrosse fans will see all four WPLL teams: Brave, Command, Fight, and Pride in custom kits designed by the sports world’s leading design brand, cutting edge footwear and premium sideline apparel.

“Nike Lacrosse is excited and proud to begin this partnership with the WPLL” says Sales Director for Nike Lacrosse, Mike Fisher. “Girls lacrosse is the fastest growing segment in the sport and connecting to female athletes and women in sport is our priority. The WPLL athletes represent the highest level of the women’s game, and we feel this a perfect match with the Nike brand”.

In addition, the multi-year agreement will also see Nike integrated into apparel and footwear across staff and volunteers outfitted in Nike gear, as well as premium merchandising accessible to fans across the world.

Today’s announcement is the first of the league’s Champion sponsorships to be announced.
