Talking Pockets: LIVE Hangout With Billy, Nick, and Ty

We’re Talking Pockets today with LAS’ own Billy Nguyen, ChillLax Customs’ Nick Coyne, and Albany attackman Ty Thompson. We’ll see what each of these guys is looking for out of their pockets, and how they string their sticks. Hopefully, you’ll find something useful, which will help you string a better lacrosse stick!

Traditional Thursday: Wooden Stick Tricks

I’m back at it with Stick Tricks in the Basement, and while I haven’t added many new tricks, I am now pulling them off with a wooden box lacrosse stick. The woodie makes these tricks much harder. Thankfully, the location is still pretty killer. It slightly makes up for my average display of wizardry.

My Only Problem With Jim Beardmore

CW was looking forward to writing a post where he countered a number of Jim Beardmore’s points with some solid analysis of his own, however, after watching the video, CW can’t disagree with Beardmore on much at all… well, except for this ONE REALLY BIG THING.

Which GoPro Is Best? Anthony Kelly, An Eagle, Tufts

The average person is going to pick the Eagle GoPro video over the lacrosse videos every single time, but that’s just because they don’t understand just how awesome lacrosse happens to be. It’s okay, we’ll forgive them. So what do YOU think? Which GoPro video is better?

Europe Box Lacrosse LIVE Hangout

With tournament #1 (Berlin) in the books, the European Lacrosse League is off and running. Tournament #2 takes place this weekend in Radotin, Czech Republic, and we’ve got Jamie Plunkett and Simon Krause in a LIVE Hangout to talk about the ELL, and this weekend’s event.

Hot Pot: Rethinking The NCAA Finals

I have truly enjoyed reading every word of Gordon Corsetti’s three part series on The Original Game. Each post has been a learning experience, and I’ve been surprised at just how much the original game has helped shape (and still shapes!) the modern version of field lacrosse. While there are a number of great old rules, one overarching concept I’d love to see brought back to field lacrosse is the Best-of-Five Series being required to win a championship.

NLL Draft Results And Commentary

55 players were drafted into the NLL last night in Oakville, Ontario. The Lacrosse Network held a LIVE Hangout, which was a lot of fun, and can be seen above. See below for the complete 2013 NLL Draft Results and some commentary on how it all went down. I’ll provide some general observations, and name a couple of guys worth watching!

Monday Night Memories: Brian Gets Crushed

Welcome back to Monday Night Memories! Last week, Randy Fraser detailed an insane box lacrosse brawl that he saw up close and personal. This week, Brian Cost joins LAS to detail how he got CRUSHED back in 2004, and how it was so very well worth it!

Former Lacrosse Players In The NFL

best players

Chris Hogan played lacrosse at Penn State University for four years, but his athletic journey was far from over. Instead of vying for a spot in Major League Lacrosse, Hogan went back to school, and played football at Monmouth University, a smaller D1 school that has produced NFL players like Miles Austin. Now, Hogan is making waves on the Buffalo Bills’ roster in the National Football League himself.

Making The Cut: Team USA’s Next Test

Team USA Men's Lacrosse 2014

On October 5th, Team USA hopefuls will once again face a grueling day of lacrosse to decide who makes the team, and who gets cut. The 52 man roster has been split into 26 man “White” and “Blue” teams, and before taking on each other in an inter-squad scrimmage, the White squad will take on Loyola, while the Blue squad will face Towson. The games will be played as part of the Play for Parkinson’s Showcase on October 5th in Alexandria, VA.

ULAX NYC Week One Video

NYC ULAX fall ball is back! The league features great diversity in terms of talent and experience, and it’s not uncommon to see a Wisconsin helmet or local HS player matched up against a D1 alum or current MLL player. The games are fun, and can get a little intense, but everyone keeps a certain moniker in mind during the action: “we all have to work on Monday”.

2013 NLL Combine: Prospects Game

The Lacrosse Network broadcast the 2013 NLL Combine Prospects Game last night, and it’s a great watch! These guys are all trying to make a name for themselves in this game, and are playing with hopes of being drafted tonight (Monday, Sep. 16th).
