Hot Pot: National vs. Local Club Teams

Starz Lacrosse

Someone recently posed this question to me: Are there national lacrosse brands? This question was asked in reference to club programs, specifically high school club teams, rather than to “brands” in the sense of gear manufacturers. So, are there “national lacrosse brands,” and if so, are they better than local club teams?

The Addicted Lax Dad: Past, Present, And Future

Lee Southren started the NJ Riot 2016 club team, and it is quickly morphing into something bigger. This growth has put Lee in a new position as the man running a club team. It is a big switch from being the man who is used to questioning club teams! Read about Lee’s experiences as a club administrator, and how it made him think of his own actions as an addicted Lax Dad.

The Summer with StickStar

Texas United, StickStar

This summer, I had the great privilege of being able to coach with the StickStar program based out of Texas. Being a part of this organization gave me a different perspective on the game and ultimately helped me to become a better lacrosse player and coach in the end.

Box Lacrosse Player With HUGE Field Upside

Layne Smith is a 2015 attackman who also plays a whole lot of box lacrosse. He’s not the tallest kid in the field, but he’s thick (5’11” and 195) and uses his strength and balance to his advantage very well. He also has a super stick, and finishes inside with a flurry of fakes.

This 2015 Player WILL Be Good In College

I’m always looking for high school level highlight tapes where I am convinced that the player in question has a solid future in the college game. The player doesn’t have to be a top 10 D1 lock to get noticed, but they do have to do something special, like show an uncanny ability to finish, a high IQ for their age, a great set of defensive checks, or a goalie who shines.

2015 With Excellent Lacrosse IQ

At LaxAllStars.com, we are always on the lookout for high school players that show a little something extra, or something different. Sometimes it’s a check throwing D guy, sometimes it’s a FoGo, or a goalie, and sometimes it’s a 2017 who plays way above his age level. Today we have a 2015 with GREAT lacrosse IQ.

Unclaimed 2014 Face Off Specialist

JP Masaryk is a rising senior (2014) from Fairfield Prep in Fairfield, CT and surprisingly, this Face Off prospect hasn’t committed anywhere yet. Late bloomer in the house? Perhaps! Check out the video of JP below, and tell me this kid doesn’t have some potential!

Recruiting Is Dangerous: Kevin Warne Gets Run Over

College coaches hit the recruiting trail hard over the Summer, especially in June and July. They line the side of fields in their fold out chairs across the country, and scout talent, and look for future players. When the action gets close, they get a great view, but also run the risk of getting trucked.

Three Athletes With Adrenaline: 2013 Black Card Showcase

Adrenaline Black Card Showcase

Photo credit: Adrln Blog Last week, our friends at Adrenaline, an LAS partner, hosted the 2013 Black Card Showcase in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In it’s second year, the Black Card event featured 175 high school boys lacrosse players who are counted amongst the top one percent of uncommitted aspiring collegiate athletes in North America. From what I’ve gathered […]
